Work & Turn Jobs
- Use a Coating Formulated for Two-Sided Work
- The coating should dry fast, dry hard, and pass a coating-to-coating block test (2 PSI @ 140°F for 24 hours).
- Apply the Least Amount of Coating Possible
- Make sure the amount is sufficient for the job. The thinner the film or coating weight, the better. Maintaining low viscosity minimizes coating weight.
- Use Fast-Setting Inks
- Avoid inks that emulsify, or take up water. Avoid weak inks.
- Factor in Ink Coverage and Stock
- Extensive ink coverage and nonporous or high holdout stocks require more drying time.
- Optimize Driving Conditions and Processes
- Extensive ink coverage and nonporous or high holdout stocks require more drying time.
- Optimize Driving Conditions and Processes
- Maximize hot air flow and evacuation. Use as much IR heat as required to dry the coating.
- Closely Monitor Pile Temperatures for Both Sides
- It is not unusual to run the same load temperature on both sides (90° - 100°F). Keep loads small and introduce air into the load. The smaller the load, and the more air introduced into it, the faster it will dry.
- Use Spray Powder
- A slight increase in spray powder on the second side may be needed.
- Delay Finishing Steps
